Android phones recently are getting more and more OS support from the manufacturer which makes them run for many years likes the iPhones and Google is doing Just more.

Google Pixels and Samsung flagship phones are already coming with 7 years of Android and Security updates these days. But, with Google’s commitment we might see this go further up a notch as company is ready to make the OS support even more this year.
Google-Qualcomm partnership
Yes, Google and Qualcomm have joined hands in bringing 8 years of OS updates to the next line flagship phone. With Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, brand adopting this hardware will have the ability to support 8 years of Android upgrades.
Samsung’s latest S25 series and Google’s new pixel phones are already promised 7 years of updates and while one can question if the hardware can run that long. It is good to see Google take the OS upgrade approach seriously with its partners this time. There will still be concerns about the future-proofing the devices, at least the flagships segment but its starting in the right direction.
With this, Qualcomm and Google are saying, if you have a hardware ability to support long OS than go ahead and offer longevity for your device rather than delaying the release. It is seemingly vital that these company offers their updates timely, something we are seeing with Samsung, which is yet to provide stable release of Android 15 to its older Galaxy models, which Google had release months ago for its Pixel lineup.
Similar to Apple’s push for iOS updates, Google has been more proactive with its Android releases recently. The biggest changes that we might see with these changes is that people will retain their devices for long, which might have a direct impact on the brand’s sales and how they refresh their premium devices.
