Apple to Launch new MacBook Air models with M4 Chips

Apple is preparing to upgrade its MacBook Air lineup with the new M4 chips next month. With new chipsets onboard Apple is planning to bring entire MacBook family to its latest generation of processor.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, on his Power On newsletter mentioned Apple has begun preparing its retail, marketing and sales teams for the upcoming launch. It is also seen that Apple has let its current MacBook Air inventory to decrease gradually indicating the upcoming product update.

Following the pattern previously used by Apple, both 13-inch and 15-inch variants of MacBook Air models are expected to receive the M4 upgrade simultaneously. This update will complete the Apple’s transition to its M4 processors for its laptop line, with MacBook Pro receiving the upgrade first several months ago.

While the upcoming MacBook Air models are to look same as the current ones, the upgrade could potentially bring the advanced features seen on MacBook Pro models. The new MacBook Air models could now support dual external displays while the laptop’s lid is open. Current set of MacBook Air has support for only one external display.

With this upgrade incoming, only the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro will remain in the older generation of Apple’s chipsets. Updates to these professional desktop machines are expected later this year with their own M4 sets. While Mac Studio is expected to receive the upgrade between March and June, Mac Pro could receive the upgrade only after June this year.
