The Apple iPhone 17 Air has very, very thin design in the latest leaks we got.

Apple is expected to release its thinnest phone yet later this year as iPhone 17 Air, along with the iPhone 17 series. Rumors have suggested that the phone will thinner than 6.9mm iPhone 6 was, but recent leaks give us a better idea on what we can expect from Apple.

Apple iPhone 17 Air Rumors

The rumored iPhone 17 Air’s dimensions has varied over the last several months, but the leak form tipster Ice Universe puts it at 5.5mm thick, as predicted by Ming-Chi Kuo in January. But, where Kuo said the phone will have 6.6-inch screen, Ice Universe has come up to say the screen will be 6.9-inch likes of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both has suggested that the device will have dimensions same as that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Later, Ice Universe also posted a video on X showing the apparent render of the smartphone.

On Friday, Youtuber iDeviceHelp also posted a video collaborating with leaker Majin Bu, who has published similar looking renders last month. iDeviceHelp claims to be showing the renders of the iPhone standard, Pro Max and Air models based on internal documents.

From the video, it’s hard not to notice the Google’s Pixel-like camera bar across the back of iDeviceHelp’s iPhone 17 Air and 17 Pro Max mockups. It is still unclear whether the bar is functional or its just Apple trying out some new aesthetic, but it’s a welcome feature as the phone will be more stable and will not dangle around when kept on its back. iDeviceHelp demonstrated that the bar seems to help here. But in both devices, the rear cameras themselves seems to stick out of the bar, so it may not be that perfect.

As for the rest of the design, the renders appear to show the buttons are all in same places as the current iPhones, bearing the iPhone 16E, which lacks the camera control button. The USB-C port and the speakers are placed on the bottom and the phone is also expected to have Dynamic Island and Face ID at front. We won’t likely know for sure how close these renders are until Apple reveals them in September.
