Galaxy Z Fold 7

CAD renders of Samsung’s next generation foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 – have recently leaked online. Looking at them gives us an idea on its look and what to expect from the upcoming device. According to the renders, courtesy of Android Headlines, The Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers two distinct major changes. The Samsung’s upcoming phone will be thinner than ever and will boast larger displays, both inside and out. For context, Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold 6 has 6.4-inch and 7.6-inch displays respectively and has a thickness of 12 mm when folded and 5.6mm unfolded.

The most noticeable changes in the leaked renders of the Samsung’s foldable is the reduction in thickness. Renders shows the phone when unfolded will only be 4.5mm thick, making it 1.1mm slimmer than the Z Fold 6. Even when folded, the phone will only be around 9.5mm thick, including the camera bump. While the phone is significantly thinner than the previous Galaxy Z Fold 6, it still remains behind the likes of Oppo Find N5 and Honor Magic V3 which are 4.2mm and 4.4mm thick respectively.

The second major change of the Z Fold 7 is its display size. The new phone is expected to feature a massive 8.2-inch inner display, making it the largest in the segment, which currently is held by Oppo’s Find N5 for the book-styled foldables. Just like inner display, outer display is also expected to grow in size. Unlike previous generation where Samsung was criticized for making outer display narrow, the new phone will have 6.5-inch display making the phone wider and more usable.

Under the hood, Samsung’s foldable is expected to pack Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, the same chipset that powers the entire Samsung’s latest Galaxy S25 series. It is also expected that Samsung to opt for 7-core version of the chip for better thermal management – Similar to what Oppo uses for it Find N5. There are also talks to Samsung using its home-build Exynos 2500 SoC for variants in some regions. Given, Samsung’s close collaboration with Qualcomm on Snapdragon 8 Elite, its very unlikely to happen.

Battery wise, we might not see a huge upgrade, The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to retain the same 4400mAh capacity battery as its predecessors. But, with improvement in efficiency from new chipset, we could still see better battery performance as well.

On the camera front, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to pack a 200MP primary sensor, marking significant upgrade from the previous models. It is also rumored to include 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP telephoto lenses in the back. For the front camera, it is expected to host 10MP selfie camera on the outer display and a 4MP under-display camera in the inner side.

As for the launch, Samsung generally unveils it Fold series in mid-July. However, with Galaxy S25 launching slightly late this year, the chances of delay in Foldables is also expected.
